So, Nintendo announced the release date and price(s) for the Wii U this morning! November 18 for NA, launching at $300 for a white console and tablet with 8gb and $350 for a black console and tablet with 32gb and NintendoLand. So what do you guys think?
Personally I'm going to be picking it up... I think the price is pretty reasonable and about what most of us expected. Plus it's launching with New Super Mario Bros Wii U and LEGO City Undercover, which both have me excited.

I rarely buy a new console at launch. I'll wait a couple years for the price drop, and games I want to play.

Backwards compatibility is a big selling point for me. It can replace my Wii, and switch over to a more convenient HDMI input in my setup. I can also sell my Wii, to lower the cost a bit.
I'm in for the black one. 24GB more flash memory + Nintendoland + black color + supposedly some other little extras sound worth $50 extra to me.

Yeah, I think a lot of people will be in that position. I was pretty late getting a Wii, so mine doesn't play GC games anyway as it's the newer model so I still have a Gamecube floating around.

I am pre-ordering the Wii U deluxe bundle this Saturday pretty excited for this and ZombiU. :) Also the TVii sounds good lets hope it has tons like Netflix.

I'm buying it day one, but me and the bf can't decide on the model. He's more sold on the white model, because it's cheaper, but I prefer the black for the larger internal storage and NintendoLand. Of course, we can us an SD card for cheaper, but... I guess it really depends on NintendoLand.

Im getting it day one no doubt and im getting the black edition its well worth it.
On the other note Nintendo is doing an incredible job with this system already with getting games for it. Baynetta 2 was a very smart move. It surprised everyone out there. A new monster hunter! Call of duty running online good is important because like it or not its a big part of gaming. I think is going to nail this launch! I just hope the game pad works good. Knowing Nintendo it will though!

I won't be getting one at launch, but I'll get one eventually. Unlike some, I'm thrilled that they're making a sequel to Bayonetta, but I wonder how a game like that would play on a tablet.

At least it's only one per customer, though... darn resellers can't buy them all up and rob people.

I always buy every console eventually. I don't think this will have a price drop any time before Christmas. I'll probably either get it launch day, wait a few weeks for some sort of combo offered by a store like a free game and controller or wait for Christmas. Regardless I'll be picking it up even though I'm not sold on it completely. Need more details and some more gameplay.

Since the Wii U is selling out on pre-orders, I doubt that will be an issue for them.

I just read in game informer that all virtual console titles can be played on the gamepad. Anybody know if that's true? If so that will be awesome!

I'm not particularly interested in the upcoming Wii U games, but I'd like to have the console if only for the HDMI out. :D I'll wait until the console actually comes out to see if it can render Wii games at HD resolutions (like Dolphin) or if it only upscales. The Wii looks AWFUL on our projector, even a PS2 produces a crisper, cleaner picture... and yes, I spent a lot of time cabling stuff together in various configurations.
I bought most of the Wii titles I'd been interested in used (IIRC the only one I'm missing is Last Story), they practically threw them after me, even the popular and well-received ones. I'd love to play them and have them look nice as opposed to a smeary blur, but going the Dolphin route seems so annoying, the reason I'm playing on consoles is to save time that'd go into setting up my gaming environment. I used to be heavily into emulation, but one can spend SO MUCH time tweaking everything until it's Just Right. Maybe that's just me ;D
I think the Wii U hardware looks interesting - not the least because this will make MS put some effort into their own tablet/console interoperability plans ;] - but I can't think of a single game I'm looking forward to playing. I think the most interesting one is the WiiU-ified version of ME3, which is kind of sad considering I've already sunk 100+ hours into the Xbox version (mostly multiplayer though; only one SP playthrough).

Now that we're a day and a half from release... who's getting one?
I know I'm going to try to, but I was too late to get on the pre-order bandwagon. I'm not sure if I'll be able to snatch one up, but I'll be waiting outside stores anyway. Anybody else miss the pre-order train, but going to try and camp out for one?

I have a whole week off from work for Thanksgiving as well. Just in time! :)

I pre-ordered one already. :D
I hate to say it though... but if the prices get crazy high enough, me and the boyfriend decided we'll resell it. We can wait on playing the console if it nets us a nice profit. Of course, we didn't buy it for that purpose, either... so if we keep it, then yay we have a new hi-tech device to play our Wii games on. :D
Anyway, I'm excited about the system itself. I haven't done enough research, though... is the Virtual Console/WiiWare library going to transfer over to the WiiU? I don't care about the latter, but there's a lot of VC games I want. :o

Yeah, I think you transfer your purchases using an SD card... I don't know the exact details though. I think Nintendo released a guide.
