Hey gang, it's another general chat thread. Talk about anything you feel.

I've been pretty busy getting ready to move. My apartment building complex is closing down the building we live in for renovations and didn't tell us until we tried to renew our lease. Kinda shitty but completely legal.

I'm trying to sell some crap so I don't have to move it like my old strategy guides. The only thing I have for auction so far is my most valuable CD I own, an ultra-rare Nine Inch Nails single. So far it's going for 99 cents.

My husband and I were featured in a newspaper for being the best music fans in St. Louis. Here's the article https://www.riverfronttimes.com/2013-05-23/music/steven-houldsworth-graham-matthews-best-fans-st-louis-photos-video/ It was really fun being interviewed. Really feeling local celebrity status.

Sup w/ u?

That's pretty cool. I live on the outskirts of St Louis and most of my jobs have been in the city.

Haha...nah, that is basically dead. Even if I was in a real band, I don't think I would be much of a "live" person anyhow. Not my thing to be on a stage...

I've just recently moved and we're in the process of making everything feel like home.

I'm having some trouble figuring out the best place to store my computer tower and subwoofer.
How does everyone feel about the two being close together? I know that strong magnets are obviously a bad thing for hard drives, but I'm not sure a subwoofer magnet can be considered "strong" in that context. Happy to hear opinions, though. =]

Here's what the setup looks like:

You can have them right next to each other with nothing to worry about. That magnet thing is mainly for older drives, modern drives have magnetic shielding and unless you plan on taking it to a junkyard with those magnets that lift cars, you don't have anything to worry about. Your subwoofer should be shielded as well. Even for older drives you need a pretty powerful magnet, and even then, right on the hard drive (unless it were in a laptop). I mean, hard drives even have magnets in them...

Well my auction ended and someone bought my most rare CD for $39. Score!

After we move I think I'll try to sell my strategy guides and entire NIN collection. Too busy to deal with another auction right now. @_@

Starting to look forward to my birthday. It's my next scheduled day off. You're all invited of course! Going to try and throw a concert or something since nothing else is going on that night. Perfect time for you to perform a set, pongsifu! JK you don't have to perform, but you can definitely come. https://www.facebook.com/events/275465442598037/

This caught me off guard the other day. A local band wrote a song about my husband and I! It's pretty fantastic, but I'm obviously biased :P

@Graham - That's pretty awesome! :o

Uh, let's see, stuff... um, my birthday was yesterday, and I had a fair amount of fun. It was low-key, but I've never been a party animal, so it was fine by me. My boyfriend and I went shopping (heck yeah, $10 coupon at World Market!), played some video games together, and then we went out for habachi :D It got a couple neat artbooks too <3

Nothing new to report, and probably the only thing of interest I'll do until Christmas. xD

Yay! Happy Birthday!

I always want to go to Six Flags on my birthday but it's usually one of the hottest days of the year. Stupid summer birthdays! I can usually party pretty hard though since the next day is a national holiday (July 4).

I've been racing games blind with others on SRL. I've always been interested in live racing, but different skill levels between players always turned me off since I don't speedrun the popular games. At least having all the racers being blind for the game (never played before), it's a mostly equal footing.

They had a double elim. tournament recently where two players would pull a random game (submitted by entrants) with a short (30 min) goal. It was a blast, but somewhat one-sided when one person played the game before and the other didn't. Next tournament should be coming up in a few months.

Just last night I beat Super Hydlide, and can now move along to the next game, Crystalis. Tonight though I hope to do a blind race of Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime.

Seems there are quite a few summer birthdays, so happy birthday everyone. My youngest is having one next week, and I get to take him and his friends out to laser tag (his pick). When my birthday comes around this year, I hope set 24 hours aside to play some old NES games.

This has been an up and down year, started on a bad note, getting pretty sick. But since then its been up. I have been working my way through quite a few games without a steady MMO to play. I have managed to drop 45 pounds so far this year...almost half way to my goal of getting below 200.

I am one of those summer birthday folks, and I am planning to get tickets to go see the legend of zelda symphony, which will be about 5 hours away a few days before my birthday. Of course I believe it is also the same weekend that the rockstar uproar tour is going to be here..but given I would only be going to that to see Coheed and Cambria I can wait for them to do a solo tour again hopefully in the winter.

I just bought tickets for the legend of zelda symphony. The one I am going to is in Newark NJ (about a 6 hour drive for me) for August 10th for my Birthday which is on the 13th. Been wanting to go to this since they first anounced they were doing the tour.

You even get 15% off tickets for being a club nintendo member!

My girlfriend and I saw Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddess and it was completely worth the 5.5 hour drive there and getting lost on the way home due to crappy google map direction (atleast we got to see part of the meteor shower that is occuring over the next couple days) We saw the show in Newark NJ. Got 100 streetpass tags on my 3DS while I was there too, could have gotten tons more but I didn't pay attention to it outisde of intermission and a couple times before the show.

If you have a chance to see this anywhere near you, I would check it out, plus if your a club nintendo member you get 15% off tickets.

Jealous! Wish I could see it, but it's not coming anywhere near me.

Also... 100 streetpasses... that's impressive. I live in a dinky little suburb where everyone around (kids, teens, adults) are essentially CoD-bros. Apparently I am one of three people here who actually owns a 3DS... Well, hopefully I'll pick up some streetpasses when I move up to my dorm in two weeks.

Being at a nintendo event I would say a lot of people had a 3ds out, If I had sat there the entire time and rudely gathered street passes I probably could have gotten over 1000 o f them. But I wanted to enjoy the music and not be rude to others too, the 100 was just some before the show, and then during intermission. It is too bad that it caps out at allowing 10 at a time.

If you get it anywhere your willing to drive to I would do it, like I said I went over 5 hours for mine, and it was a great show, its about a 2 hour show. But I am a huge zelda fan and I love orchestral music.
They played some medley's before hand for warm ups, the overture main theme of the series, ocarina songs, kakura village and a bunch of the 2D games and then the 4 movements were ocarina of time, wind waker, twilight princess and a link to the past. They also did 3 others at he end, majoras mask, garuda valley and a medley of the Gameboy games

That's really cool. We went to the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds symphony last year, and it was my favorite concert of the year. Nobou Uematsu was there in the crowd smiling like crazy. Tons of cosplayers and street pass tags. Nerd paradise <3

I would like to see distant worlds some time too just so I can compare the two. I will have to keep an eye out for it coming somewhere nearby next year, there is one in boston which is like 7-8hours for me this year but its not in the cards to drive over there, since this last trip used the money I had for something like this.
