Today is a magical day. GTA5 is out. Half of my friends are playing it on 360, and the rest on PS3. I haven't been so torn between consoles in... ever?
If you're getting this game, tell us which console you're choosing. Sadly Wii-U is not a choice!
I'm leaning towards PS3 just because I don't want to renew my Xbox Live subscription to play 1 game online.

I'm actually holding out for a PC version. Digital Foundry did an article on performance and the PlayStation 3 version had the edge.

Well I went ahead and got the PS3 version. Add Grahamtams as always.
Only got to play a tiny bit yesterday. Who thought releasing games in the middle of the week was a good idea? Argh, I remember this feeling from Diablo 3.
Everdred you must be patient to hold out for PC. I don't think I'd be able to walk into any Wal-Mart, Target, or mall and not leave without GTA5.

I share Everdred's pain. I'm waiting for the inevitable PC release as well, but I've watched a few non spoiler videos so far of the gameplay and it does look like a fantastic game.

I think you'll be waiting until next summer for GTA V on PC. I was gonna hold out, but too many of my friends have it and I want to be a part of the conversation now, before it's old news...

If you had asked me last week, then I would have certainly said I was also holding out for the PC version.. that was until I tried getting GTA4:EFLC working on my desktop PC, and it was running shockingly bad (less than 10fps), I don't recall GTA4 being that bad when I completed it on the same PC (just I think I've reinstalled once or twice since then), nor when I started playing EFLC a couple of year ago.
Resigned to thinking it was something up with a driver or some hardware, I spent 3 hours trying to get it running at an acceptable frame rate (gamebooster, command line options, anything that I could find online)... even dropping the resolution down to 800x600, and everything on low would not yield a framerate of at least 10fps.
I then started to try other games from my steam library, these were Bioshock and Arkham Asylum (both similar sort of vintage, and both ran fine on the full resolution of my monitor).. The other day I also tried firing up the latest Tomb Raider game, that ran at 45fps on normal graphics settings and about 29fps on high.
The benchmark in GTA4 also doesn't show any of the CPU/Ram/GPU being maxed out (highest being about 85%)
So for me I don't have a great of trust in that Rockstar will deliver a decent working port of GTAV :( Would love to be proved wrong though as I do prefer playing GTA games with they keyboard and mouse.

I will be waiting for the PC version. GTA IV is notoriously badly optimized for PC and Rockstar knows that they've dropped the ball on that one so I'm hoping that a company of that calibre wont make the same mistake twice.

A PC version won't be released in 2013 so i guess i will grab it for PS3

I have a 360 and PS3 but I'll just wait for the PC version. I know it won't be for a while, but I don't really care. Especially considering the graphics will probably be along the lines of the probable PS4/Xbone version when that rolls around.

If you have both a 360 and a PS3 then I'd say get the PS3 version which has a slight edge in terms of texture resolution. But really the differences are minimal between the two so you might as well get whichever version your friends will be playing online.
The game is a bit like GTA4 in that it looks kind of crappy when you first start playing but once the lighting engine starts showing off incredible atmospheric effects like the sunsets and nights it becomes one of the most impressive console games this generation.
Be aware there seem to be performance issues with the PS3 digital download version though so make sure to get a physical copy.

Well if you haven't been keeping up, the GTA Online launch has been buggy as hell and unplayable for lots of people. I had a chance to play last night for the first time.
First impression = lots of waiting around... loading missions, waiting for others, getting your games cancelled for random glitchy reasons. I got first place in a deathmatch which was awesome. I raced some noobs and smoked them so bad I never saw them. I had to listen to 16 people talking on the microphone at once in impossible to follow conversations. It's a weird experience... It made me just want to play single player.
