Diablo 3 is in stores today, and judging by how many people were saying they were looking forward to this game in the anticipated games thread, I think it's safe to say some of us are getting this game today or very very soon.
So post your character names, account names, and/or servers you're playing on here. Maybe we can meet up and do quests. It's always nice to have buds around.

I've never been one for MMOs, but my boyfriend was thinking of getting it really soon. I don't know if he decided on getting that or just settling for Torchlight 2, though.
If enough people on the site are playing, though, maybe you all could set up a guild or raid parties or whatever Diablo III does for social stuff. :)

I played the beta. It was pretty fun, when I could log on. Until Error 37 stops rearing its ugly head I'll be holding out for Torchlight II, which was my original plan anyway.

@ramen - Oh wow, really? I didn't even know. I mean, I had a vague idea that Diablo I and II were different, but... yeah. I guess it probably was a good idea to make III more WOW like, though.... it'l bound to bring in a lot of customers who love WOW.

I've already played through it once alone and now I'm playing through again on hardcore.
As for being an MMO, it just isn't. I mean, the max is 4 people co-op and it isn't a persistent world, so it isn't any more of an MMO than Left 4 Dead.
And for being like WoW, I don't see the similarities at all. I played WoW for over 1,500 hours and Diablo 2 is one of my top 5 favorite games and Diablo 3 is nothing like WoW. The only thing remotely close to it was a couple of boss fights that have more of a variety of moves and environmental hazards that you have to dodge like in a WoW raid battle, but not nearly as formulaic as it is in WoW. Plus, boss fights have come a long way since Diablo 2's, which boiled down to dodging a handful of attacks and then hitting back. Even still, most boss fights are not like that and the game just feels like a Diablo game to me.

That's good to know. My experience with the beta was quite limited and I haven't really played WoW much, but what I saw in terms of style and interface reminded me of WoW a bit I guess. There are other people saying the same thing, though I don't know how much WoW experience they have either.
Also if Diablo ever did become an MMO like WoW I just wouldn't play it. I have this odd disdain for MMOs anyway, one that I'm not even sure why I have.

The skill UI interface is definitely similar in that you can see all your skills on the bar, but that would imply WoW invented such a thing. Pretty much any modern MMO has that interface and quite a few single player RPGs. It is more of a "modernization" aspect of RPGs rather than WoWifying it. Also, in WoW you can play entirely by clicking the skill UI buttons with the mouse cursor rather than number keys, which is actually how I played. Diablo 3 this isn't possible at all. You *have* to press the keys they're assigned to because your mouse cursor has to be out on the screen clicking where you want the skill to be aimed at.
