currently at the end of FF6 again amd working my way through God of War Ghosts of Sparta on my phone. gotten big into emulation on my phone. I never had a PSP so all thats new to me. Gonna work on Kindom Hearts Birth by Sleep after that. I bought Super Mario 3d All Stars but haven't opened it yet. The only game I've played before is Galaxy unless you want to count a Toys R Us display back when it was new.

Ok let me open things up by saying that I do have a 6 year old little boy. I need a pretty good Christmas gift to buy for him and to be honest I have been looking at a Wii U for a while. I also need to say that I have been a Sony guy from the original Playstation. That's not to say that I haven't owned other systems in there but Sony has been my go to for most of my games. Not saying that I wouldn't get a PS4 at some point in the future but I am curoious what do the Wii U owner's think of their purchase? I had a Wii (the ex took it with her) and actually really enjoyed it once I finally decided to give it a legit chance. Is there anything on the Wii U that I should consider that for versus a PS4? As I mentioned earlier I do have a 6 year old and from what I've seen I think the Wii U would be the better purchase for him. Or should I just buy a used Wii and buy a PS4 for me? The biggest thing that has held me back is that most of the games that I would personally want to play have come out for my PS3 as well so I haven't really had a reason to make that jump to the Wii U. (We can argue the point of how big a jump it is but I'm not a graphics whore. If I was I would play on PC) I do like the Nintendo exclusives it should be said but I also like the Sony ones. Any advice?

Just finished up Leon's campaign in Resident Evil 6. All I can really say is eh. Too much action and not near enough atmosphere. It really seems like Capcom forgot what made RE games great (never played Revelations but heard it actually has an old school feel). RE 5 I didn't care much for either. I loved RE 1-4 but lately the games just seem average. I am not sure if that is because my expectations are so high following the earlier titles or what. As much as RE 4 is my favorite in the series I almost wish it was never made. It was the start of RE becoming what it is today which is just an action game. I miss having an open style world and having to search everywhere for pieces of the puzzles. None of that in 6 that's for sure. Basically just running down corridors and shooting everything in site. I used to get the creeps playing these games but now they just seem soul less.

I enjoyed dragon warrior 3 & 4 a ton. The ffirst one has too much grinding for me. The second one was the hardest I thought. I also thought that Breath of Fire 3 was really good as well and some of the dragon combinations you can create are pretty cool.

Had a ton of personal stuff going on (still do for that matter) so I haven't been playing much lately. Finally got about half way through God of War 3. First one I've ever played. I like it but honestly for me it hasn't lived up to the hype. It's really good don't get me wrong but I don't think it's as good as all of the review sites make out. Personally and it may just be that I prefer the story more but I think that the Darksiders series is better. I know blasphemy but just my opinion.

It's official: https://news.xbox.com/2013/06/update

I had to laugh when I read this. I have been a Playstation guy since the original way back when and was honestly thinking about maybe switching to Xbox to give something new a try. I have some friends with 360's and they really like them so I figured why not. After all of this crap that has been going on and their arrogant anticonsumer attitude they have had though I just don't see myself supporting them. Plus to be honest the new Kinect seems a little creepy to me. Yeah sure you can cut it off...and the government doesn't monitor email traffic too right? (sarcasm). Sorry Microsoft but I prefer my privacy. Probably won't buy a new console this year anyway unless the Wii U gets a price cut at Christmas for the 32 gig version so I guess I am not necessarily the one they are targeting this year anyway.

Finally got Skyrim and am trying that out. I have to be honest though I am not sure it's for me. I love the way it looks with regards to the "Lord of the Rings" look but I am not sure about what I think of the combat. I haven't played much of it yet so maybe as I get into it a little more. I think that RPG's in general may have passed me by. I like the old ones like the Dragon Warrior series, older Final Fantasies, and Phantasy Stars of the world. Many of the newer ones just seem a little more complicated than what I really care for. I may be more of an action type of guy now I guess. On that note I hope to finish up Uncharted 2 tonight or tomorrow and then I am probably gonna start on God of War 3. I have some pretty cool Wii platformers I need to get into too.

I just started playing Killzone 3 today. I like the campaign so far...what I can play of it and the damned thing keeps freezing. I was curious if anyone else has any history with this game and if they had the same issue. I am only about 2 hours in but it is far enough where I really wish I didn't have this problem. For the record my PS3 has never had this problem and the disc looks immaculate.

I am thinking of trying Demon's Souls after I finish Resistance 3. I played about an hour of it and really didn't get into it but I think it's because I was short on time and not because it was a bad game. I hear Dark Souls is even more ambiguous than Demon's Souls. I do like the more open world concept of Dark Souls though versus the nexus in Demon's Souls.

I keep reading the same thing about paying a fee to activate a used game. This is a deal breaker for me. I don't buy very many games new (almost preordered Colonial Marines thank God I waited). It is really painful for me to pay $60 for a game. That being said it seems that if this is true than Microsoft could be hitting you pretty hard to play a used game at all. If you have to pay for XBox Live, then you buy a used game, and then you have to purchase a code or whatnot to unlock the game. That could get expensive fast. I was at least going into things with an open mind this coming gen when it came to a PS (I have had all 3 Playstations) and XBox but this right here made my mind up for me. That and the 360 failure rate versus the fact that my PS3 has never given me any trouble at all and well it's an easy choice. The features look cool but to be honest the only things that I use my system for is to play games and watch the occasional blu ray or dvd. Other than that my laptop will be more accessible anyway and I don't have to pay anyone but Time Warner to connect to the internet. I don't like the whole Kinect thing either. To me it just sounds really creepy.

I really liked Generations but yeah I am with you that fight sucked. I still don't really know what I was doing either. Other than that the last two Sonic games have been really good (Generations and Colors) even if the boss fights were a little lacking in both.

I thought the fight with the Joker in Arkham Asylum was frustrating only because I expected it to be more challenging. I loved the game and was disappointed when I finished it particularly because of how easy he was.

The Ultimate Weapons in FF 7. I was never able to beat either of them and it was so disheartening when it would seem like I was holding my own against the one in the desert only to have him pick my characters up so I couldn't use them anymore. Any FF 13 boss especially Bartholemew or whatever his name was. I don't like fights that are difficult simply due to their length whether they are long or have some sort of stupid timer.

Found the Mega Man X collection for PS2 at a flea market yesterday for $3. I love me some Mega Man. I prefer classic Mega Man but X is cool too. The thing is I don't have a PS2 anymore. Looks like I will be repurchasing that as well. I will probably wait until I stumble on one really cheap. Not really in any big rush.

I honestly have only played two Zelda games, The Adventures of Link and Twilight Princess. I have to be honest I didn't like Zelda 2 at all when I was a kid. I think it really soured me on ever giving any other Zelda game a chance until I saw Twilight Princess on sale for black Friday this past year. For the most part I enjoyed it but there were some things that just weren't my favorite. I have been wanting to give OoT a shot and if I can ever catch Skyward Sword on sale I will try it. For what it's worth the only parts I really wasn't to keen on in Twilight were the wolf parts. Other than that everything was pretty cool. I can see why everyone really likes it. I think that Nintendo really needs to go pretty realistic looking with the next one to show people what the Wii U can do. Right now all you hear is it can't do this or it can't do that. If they show people it's not as anemic as everyone has been saying maybe they can start selling more units. I want a Wii U but will probably still hold off until they get more than just a Zelda or a Mario that I can't play on my PS3.

I may be wrong, I only played with Apple computers at school and my uncles house, to this date I still have never owned an Apple computer, or had solid access to one for gaming. I recognized the game because my Uncle was playing it one Christmas, but I don't remember much about it other than the name. My Uncle only played two games around me on his Mac and those were Simcity and Strategic Conquest, and the only one I got to play at school was Oregon Trail.

Ah Oregon Trail. Everyone everywhere must have played that game in school. I remember playing on the green and black screen. The thing I remember most was all of the time everyone spent hunting in the game. Most of my classmates never even finished the game. We would be genuinely upset if we didn't get to play Oregon Trail at least a little bit on the computer in elementary school. That seems like so long ago now.

Anyway though, I just played Megaman X-X8 and had a great time with most of them (X7 excluded). My thought on Megaman these days is why can't Capcom just sell the series to Nintendo or Inafune's company or anyone really.

I couldn't begin to tell you how excited I would be if Nintendo purchased the franchise, especially if they managed to get Inafune to work on it. That alone would make me go out and buy a Wii U. I don't really understand why they don't sell it off. They have made it clear that they have no interests in actually releasing a game. Hell the Street Fighter x Mega Man game was fan made. I think the only reason they published that was to quell any possible backlash. I used to love Capcom back in the day. If you had a NES the only companies you would have needed were Nintendo, Konami, and Capcom. I really wish the old Capcom would come back but I could honestly care less if the current Capcom shared the same fate as THQ.

I absolutely love Mega Man and couldn't agree more with the first two favorites. I bought MM8 recently and while I can understand the general dislike for it amongst MM fans I actually like it. I like the art style with all of the pastels and I like actually having voices. It really makes me think I am watching a cartoon. To each his own though it is still no where near as good as 2 or 3. Capcom has turned into something that I find unrecognizable. The games that they churn out now are simply no where near the same quality as their old games. They have become so consumed with simply trying to make any dime they can and don't really care if their games are good or not as long as people buy them. They are living off of a past reputation and I think with a few exceptions fans are beginning to notice (Monster Hunter comes to mind as the exception, RE series only looks good now the games since 4 suck IMO). I think the main reason they are dragging Mega Man through the mud has to do with tarnishing Keiji Inafune's (spelling) reputation. I think they are still upset with the way things went down with him and are trying to drag his legacy through the mud. Mega Man is my all time favorite character and series. The fans, I think, would all love to have more good games from the series and not some 3D looking Metroid Prime stuff. I like Prime too but it's not Mega Man. I would love and buy in a minute a good 2D Mega Man game with some updated visuals. I really would prefer not to lose the cartoon style though. Ultimately though I don't think we will ever see it. It's a shame too.

Not sure if anyone cares (other than me) but the Darksiders IP was purchased by Nordic Games along with some other THQ properties the other day. So who knows maybe I will actually be able to play as the other two horsemen after all. I don't really know that much about Nordic though. Has anyone had any experience with anything they have done?

But yeah, I use consoles for single player games. I have a bunch of XBL time cards that I have yet to use...

Being vested in a game only matters to the publisher/developer if you buy any DLC. If not then they really don't care because they aren't getting any more money out of it. Of course there is the whole 'all my friends are playing it so I will have to buy it too" but short of a few onine multiplayer games such as the obvious like COD or Battlefield and MMO's how many people actually spend time with online multiplayer? I really don't know. I really hate it when a game tacks on a shitty multiplayer simply to say it's a multiplayer though. I really wish they would spend that time making a better single player game. It would be a much more productive use of time.

Well just finished Darksiders II (which I am kind of sad honestly) but I am trying to decide between Resistance Fall of Man and Killzone 2. I am in the mood for a shooter. I am probably going to take on either Demon Souls or Dragon Age Origins after that. Anyone ever played Bayonetta? Is it any good? I have been eyeing that lately too.

I mostly play single player as well and actually very rarely have my PS3 online at all. I am guessing that it is a social thing as far as the achievements go but from the majority of the responses that I have seen on here very few people really seem to care. Which makes me wonder why is the whole share all of your crap with your friends being pushed so hard with games now? I don't know about PC's but it seems that all of the consoles are doing it. With Sony and the new "share button" on the controller, to Nintendo and their "hints" that you can drop in game, to Microsoft and what I will assume is going to be more "achievements" in games it seems the major companies are trying to push everyone to only play with each other. Personally I would much rather play a single player campaign. Multiplayer is fine to extend the life of the game, but if you have a bad story I won't want to play your game. I blame it on COD that seems to be the popular answer everywhere you look LOL.
