Overall I'm satisfied with this site. But there's one thing that bugs me. In Firefox there's an ability to add a site's search to your search shortcuts.

And doing this works on every other site I use it on, but not HLTB. And I dunno why. From the shortcuts I've set up, if I wanna search google I type "g [something]", for duckduckgo I type "d [something]". I set the HLTB's shortcut to h, but when I type "h [something]", all it loads is the main page. No search results.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with HLTB or a problem with Firefox. But it annoys me nonetheless. I just thought I'd bring it up on the chance it's a HLTB problem.

Displayed platforms are derived from user entries, someone obviously made a mistake when entering their completion. These can be reported from the completion list but only if the user has supplied a time. Completions without a time like this one can’t be reported from there

I thought I'd ask for three possible improvements to the site which would be useful.

1. Would it be possible for the forums to remember which posts I've read and haven't so i know when a new post has been made?
2. Would it be possible to add a sub platform dropdown so i can add where the game was purchased? I.e. PC->Steam
3. When adding a new game not available in the database would it be possible to add more details when adding the game to my backlog such as developer, publisher and year?

Some kind of "collections" system for sorting games by where you own them. That's what you're asking for right, or did I misunderstand?

You can already do this by clicking the game in your list, then clicking on the boxart space. I assume that it doesn't present these options during the submission process because Everdred doesn't expect many people to actually do this.

On a personal level, I would ask that if you submit a game and then add the info, that you submit the release dates for all regions. It makes checking and updating games that are already on the site far easier and a lot of the time all the dates are listed on mobygames etc on the same page. I know there is a degree of historical baggage in this regard, and of course some games get announced for regions at a later date but the more entries that have all the available dates filled, the quicker it is to work through the game lists for bulk editing.

I meant specifically when adding a new game into your backlog. Basically i want the details and backlog adding merged when adding a new entry. Might be a bit much though

If you select Single-List you should be able to turn it into multi-List. you can then hide your completed game from there by selecting all the tabs excluding the completed list

Should "Emulated" really be a platform

I know Everdred has said this is one of those things that is there because people expect the option.

Several aspects of platform handling are not ideal and there are several reasons for this, but Everdred aims for flexibility in how the average user uses the site.

The way it is now, games times are broken down by platform at the bottom of the game page. That way people can see emulated times separately, which is beneficial because people often use save states in emulation playthroughs which will significantly cut down on time played.

The main issue is that people put PC as their platform when they emulate instead of the original platform. 2nd is what Pongsifu said, the whole save state or sped up modes issue. Everything is designed around flexibility.

I'm really sorry to post this in this thread but I have tried every other option by now and I'm becoming desperate. I can't make a new thread for it either for some reason. (It says I need "one post" but even though I did post before it still doesn't let me.)

My problem is just that I can't log into my actual main account anymore because apparently I have forgotten my password. But the password recovery doesn't work. I'm just not receiving any e-mails from howlongtobeat.com . No, not even in the spam folder.

I tried contacting the site owner via the feedback/contact page twice a few weeks ago but never got a reply on that either.

I tried all old passwords I could remember, every combination, for I think two months now.

I'm also suspicious, but in fairness login stuff does break sometimes. If something happened recently to break it, that would explain why two users with new profiles are now having the issue.

Oh, I totally get your suspicion regarding this. For sure. That's why I'm willing to prove that the account is actually mine any way I can.
Although me having access to the e-mail address connected to the locked account should already be a good piece of proof. That's why all I really want is the password recovery function to work and I'd already be happy.

In any way, I'm willing to do whatever I have to not sound like a scam or whatever.

I'm already happy that I finally found someone to actually talk to about this. And seeing that someone else has the same problem apparently is a relief too.
