Oh mighty lord and leader Everdred!
I am here to request the addition of the genre "Narrative" to the genre list for games. That or something similar like "Story-Driven".
Lately I have been adding details for a few games that don't fit the other available genres, but would happily fill the role of "Narrative" game or the like. More and more games are telling stories in different ways, so what used to generally fit in "Visual Novel" or "Interactive Art" no longer sits very well and needs its own classification.
Thank you for you time,
With love,
Community Member: me! =D

And also i would like to know why i can't create any thread in this forum
Hi ericgobbo!
As far as I remember you aren't able to create a thread before a) you've created a normal post and b) a grace period ended.
I think both rules are supposed to help prevent bots/spam. You should be able to create a thread by now.

Hello, I was thinking about something, but I don't think it deserves a thread on its own before I mention it here.
Do you think it could be possible to add somewhere in the game profile, something that says if the game has its own time log ?
I know it would be useless for most of the core users of the website who use stopwatch for every game, but I personnaly don't if the game does have its own way of telling me how long I played it (like the 3DS backlog software, or the save files of most RPGs).
I do think it could be nice to know this before starting a game, but maybe it's just me...

Hey Everdred,
I guess there's a bug:
I just posted something in the Games Beaten - October 2020 thread and just a few minutes later the post said: 'Posted 1 Hour Ago'. Which is wrong. 1 hour ago I was beyond a doubt still asleep. ;)
I don't know if it had it wrong immediately but I'm testing it now with this post.

Sorry if this has been asked before. I seemingly cannot choose Xbox Series X/S from the menu yet, right? Could you add that in? PlayStation 5 is selectable.

Might have something to do with daylight savings maybe?
Edit: Also at least from my phone my post doesn’t have an issue with this.

Hm, maybe. I have no idea. But yeah it seems to be a problem on my side.
Edit: Aaaaaaaand it's gone. This post is okay again (shows the correct info). Hm, a glitch in the matrix I guess.

Which list? Xbox Series X/S should be on all the lists.

I'm new to this site. It looks useful, but I'm fighting with it to try to auto-import games from as many of my services as possible. I finally figured out that in order to auto-import from Steam, I shouldn't include my Steam community profile's entire URL, only the numbers at its end, so I entered those numbers as my Steam handle. I'm currently unable to auto-import my Xbox game library, even though I've entered in my Xbox gamertag correctly. I'd also like to auto-import my GOG and Epic Games Store libraries. Can I do that?
Since I use GOG Galaxy 2.0 and have enabled its integrations with Xbox, Steam, and Epic Games Store, most of my games are listed in GOG Galaxy, and I suppose that I could export that library as a .txt file or something (if that feature exists), and import that file at How Long To Beat. I'd still prefer an automatic import function.
Nevertheless, I look forward to exploring this site's features. What I want is to be able to sort through my game library that contains a few game subscription services, and find games that fit within the amount of time that I have available to play them. Let me be more specific. I'm not necessarily talking about the total amount of time to play them. I'm talking about the amount of time I'll need to spend each time I sit down to play them--how long each session will need to be in order to progress in the game, such as how long each level lasts, and how long in-between each save point--and I'm also talking about the number of sessions I'll need to have per week in order to progress and not forget, so that I don't have to replay any parts to refresh my memory of what happened. it's almost about to what extent a game is casual (can be picked up, played briefly, and then put down) or 'serious' (for the lack of a better word), requiring gamers to pay attention for an extended gameplay session in order to get to a good stopping point.

The search is without DLCs by default. You can choose in the search options to include those, too.

Hey there. I didn't post much in this year...
I still have to catch up with posts on this forum :C
I have one issue, so game-related topics are now displaying sum of each playthrough, but...
Example:
https://howlongtobeat.com/forum?thread=2177&page=1&jump=to#post71183
But I have two entries for this game, one being:
#1: ID: 10798817, 65h27m.
#2: ID: 10798815, 74h13m.
First is my playthrough till I reached credits - along with some side-quests...
Second is continuation of my playthrough from "one", but I also did some post-game quests... (therefore getting almost 10h hours to my playtime).
But I actually spent 74h, not sum of 74h+65h, which is displayed on the post I made in Ni No Kuni related topic...
Here is link to completion list: https://howlongtobeat.com/game?id=6585&s=completions
Therefore... did I misinterpreted usage of website? Should I only keep my longer entry?
Because currently it suggests I finished game twice...

I suspect it's because you have two entries for the game - so it adds them both up as separate playthroughs.
Ordinarily you could enter both times as Main Story and then Main Story +, but they're both Main Story +, so what you really have is only one playthrough. I'd enter the 74h one as Main+ and leave the shorter one off entirely as it's part of the longer one anyway.
Either way though - they're adding up because they're separate entries =)

It's saying my email is invalid.
Edit: Never mind. It wasn't accepting it because the g in Gmail wasn't capitalized.

Any way we can customize it so we can make list/box the default if we wanted?

13 Yrs♥F✓#
Not yet but I'll be doing that in the future. Likely the same with the search modifier.

10 Yrs♥✓#
That's awesome :)
With podcast usage in mind, is there any way we could hide the randomised game's completion times on the search page?

13 Yrs♥F✓#
I've added a modifier called "Hidden Stats".
It makes things look a little awkward and the average user will probably ask "Why would anyone want this?" lol but that's OK.
