I noticed when I add a game that’s already in ones of my lists it doesn’t appear in the activity on my front page. I’m not sure if this is intentional or not so I thought I’d point it out in case it isn’t.

I had an idea. Maybe we can have a rating system for rating how difficult a game is to beat overall. It would help alot of people out with deciding what to play first in there backlog.

Thanks EverDred (in relation to your reply on page 131) I forgot I asked a question and didn't see your reply til than.
Just a quick question. Is there a good way I can keep up to date on all the updates to the website?

In game-specific threads, I think it would be more useful when you click on the game's name to take me directly to the game's data page rather than a list of threads it has assigned.

Randomly throwing this idea out there, but seeing how a lot of forum threads are duplicating themselves lately, is there any way that when someone goes to post a new thread with a similar title to another one, it could suggest them to post there instead? It might be a handy feature (if it's even possible) for new users who don't go digging through old threads when they join.

I was adding the Klonoa games to my backlog and noticed some stuff about the approved platforms for them.
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile was only released on PS1, but the approved platforms list Vita and Wii. Now, I understand that the game can be legit played on a PS2 and PS3, but I'm not sure about the Vita and Wii.
Then, for Klonia 2, the game was only released on PS2. So, following the previous game, shouldn't approved platforms also include PS3 since it was added for the first game, or, is it the first game that's shouldn't have PS2 and PS3 ?
Then, for the Klonoa remake on the Wii, it lists the PS1 as an approved platform ? If we follow the previous two examples, it should list Wii U since Klonoa could be played on a Wii U, or then again, is it the approved platforms of the other games that should be removed ?
Technically, Klonoa is only on the Wii, Klonoa 2 is only on the PS2 and Door to Phantomile is only on PS1.
Edit: Just saw that note : "Please select only native platforms where the title has been officially released, no backwards compatible or virtual console releases." I'll be editing the info then... ;)
Edit 2: I just checked a few random titles in my backlog and it looks like many more games will need that kind of editing for native platforms and official releases... :'(

I actually noticed that some time ago and meant to bring this up. Unless I’m misremembering I thought we were going to count backwards compatible and virtual console?

You can still submit completions for those platforms and it’ll show up on the platform breakdown at the bottom of the game page, but they won’t show up in the list of platforms in the game description. Look at Ghost of Tsushima for example.

Since these days many games have a worldwide release or are released as digital only, I think it would be nice to have a fourth option in the info panel like "worldwide release" or something like that, instead of having to copy paste the same date for NA, EU and JP.

I feel like a cool feature would be ranked lists, such as the ones on Letterboxd (https://letterboxd.com/lists/).
I know we already have custom lists, but you could make stuff like "Top 10 Favorite Games," or "Hitman Franchise Ranked," without necessarily being a list of something you're actively doing/playing.
I feel like it would bring about a nice social element that would get people coming to the site.

I meant more like a feature within the tracking site itself. Like you could navigate to a game's page and add it to a specific thing.
Check this out: https://letterboxd.com/bslaby/list/the-criterion-challenge-2021/
There would be a tab on your profile that would should all of the lists you'd created:
https://ibb.co/s1cbTB0
And you'd see your own personal creations like so:

Idk, I just thought it might be a cool feature that would be fun to show your friends, or share with people on social media, and thus create more site traffic.

ya a list feature like Letterboxd would be cool - but possibly a little outside the scope of the site... although having said that, I never would have expected blogs to become a thing on here so who knows... it might work after all... so long as Everdred wants to implement it =)

Yeah, and you could probably reuse code in terms of adding something to a list; similar to adding something to Completed or Backlog. All that would be left is creating the UI for arranging the list as well as naming it.

If you’re playing a version of the collected works, perhaps the collection itself. I only say this based on the assumption that it’s something like a remaster that has quality of life changes that make playing the game smoother. If it’s closer to the original release, maybe the times related to the original since that would be the most similar experience.

6 Yrs♥$✓#
I would lean towards the second option since on average I expect most people count the individual games so the results should be more informative.
However I guess it also depends on the age of the games and the size of the compilation.
Compilation times don't need to count every game, the bigger the compilation the more this becomes something worth considering.

Something I've been thinking about a lot after looking back at the review scores of my completed games is how even a lot of the ones I gave 10/10s for are games that I still have some issues with. My suggestion for the site is to maybe add a second review score for games: One being your personal score, the other being your critical score. For example, I personally enjoyed FFVII Remake so much that I gave it a 10/10. But at the same time, there are a few gameplay quirks that I had issues with, making it more of a 9/10 from a critical standpoint. Not sure if this just means I should be going back and re-evaluating my game scores, but it's just a thought I had. Maybe run a poll to see if enough people care for something like that?

Being honest, I could not really see a point in something like that. If you feel the game is a 10 that is all that needs to be said... the game could be broken as hell and a complete mess to a large group of people, but if you loved it, had fun with it, and it hit that 10 number on your scale, then that is all there is to it. You do not have to justify it by putting a lower or higher number to meet some expectation, which is very much a thing. Using Last of Us 2 as an example, the game received a lot of backlash, and a large group of people made it their mission to not only question people who gave the game a high score, but to harass them for their opinion. A "critical" review score sounds like an attempt to appease those who show displeasure for others rating games in a way they disagree with.
It would be like me rating Anthem an 8 because despite the state of the game, I played it with friends, loved pretending I was Iron Man, and just had fun with it for what I was doing.
But... I'll also better rate it a 2, because frankly, I don't want to have to explain myself to someone that sees that 8 and goes "WTF casual... why you rate shitty games an 8!!!!!!"
You can always use the notes to address any quirks, however minor, you had with the game. A second review score I feel would just lead to confusion... do you feel the game is a 9 or a 10 (or a 7 or an 8 or whatever other review scores you put in)? I feel one score can do the job just as if not more efficiently along with utilizing the notes and review sections to address specific pros and cons you may have had with the game.
But that is just me.

9 Yrs♥✓#
Yeah...there is no such thing as a "critical" score, unless you mean professional game "critics." And in that case, you can look at Metacritic or ask them to create accounts here XD
I try to keep in mind the critical flaws of a game even if I overwhelmingly enjoyed it. For instance: I mostly remember Torment: Tides of Numenera as a fantastic game, par none. But I still rated it 8/10 because it did have some serious flaws. As good as it was, there was some obvious room for improvement, as opposed to a game like Mass Effect where it's hard to see where it could be significantly improved.

Sounds like a case of indecisiveness, I'd suggest to rethink your approach when it comes to rating games and ask yourself what qualities factor into the final verdict the most. If you are willing to rate a game with a 10, it doesn't seem like the few "quirks" you mentioned can be considered as such, since the fun factor rendered them dismissible. OR you did mind the quirks and they were detrimental to the overall experience in one way or another. Regardless of how you flip it, it boils down to your personal view (the so-called critics are no different from the rest of us gamers, they just have the ability to reach out to a greater audience via established media outlets and more or less have an impact on the sales, but they are ultimately just as opinion-based) and you know how the saying goes: one man's trash is another man's treasure. Unless it's something borderline unplayable, but that's become a rarity these days and an exception wouldn't make the rule.

What if there was a way to search by genre?

Not sure if it's intentional or a bug but the Game Blogs page is paginated but missing the page selection.

Did you make edited posts no longer say "Edited" after some length of time? I thought they always showed that on edited posts, but now I see that older edited posts say "Posted" instead.
I hope that's clear.

Hey GamerAim,
I've noticed the same. When I edit one of my posts, it says "edited" for a short while (maybe an hour?) but then goes back to "posted". It felt like a changed behaviour to me as well.
