Hey, since we already got a separate Storefront tag, will we also be getting a separate "played on" tag? :)

I don't care about how it affects times. I'd just like to be able to immortalize how RetroArch fucked me on the Vita.

When I visit the forum I like to open every thread with unread posts in a new tab each.

On mobile this requires a long press on the right arrow icon. This often doesn't work for me (menu not popping up). I assume that my thumb is too fat / the icon is too small.

I feel body-shamed and kindly would like to request a larger arrow icon or alternatively slimmer substitute thumbs. ;)

Really digging the new Storefront feature, especially to sort out PC games I own on several storefronts at once.

I'm curious about which category Arcade games would fall into, though. I mean games completed on actual coin-op arcade cabinets.
What I'm getting is Physical stands for games you physically own (as opposed to the Borrowed option), so would arcade cabinets be considered Rented?
Aside from the not-so frequent case where someone would have a working arcade cabinet at their own place, you basically rent your playtime on these so Rented sounds the most fitting but I'dl like to hear some input about how people feel about that.

Also, for my two cents about the Humble Store, they have a very few DRM-free only games for sale on there (in addition to DRM-free versions of games included in some of their bundles) that aren't sold on Steam/GOG or Origin/uPlay, so it's not really different from how DRM-free purchases work on GOG or itch.
Hopefully, users will tag Steam, Epic or Origin keys bought from Humble with their respective storefront, though.

Interesting point. I could see the case for an Arcade option.

As I understand it, PC arcades are common in Asia too?

FWIW while Humble have moved to selling keys more often than DRM free version - I have a couple of hundred DRM free games downloaded direct from Humble, thanks to bundles that I bought years ago. So while they aren't the biggest storefront these days, they used to offer a LOT more direct downloads, so should be just as relevant as other store purchases IMO.

Updating storefronts, and I could use one for Green Man Gaming.
Also Fanatical, uPlay, and the Oculus store.

I'd also like to suggest 'Crowd Funded' and 'Pre-Installed' options.
(Pre-Installed being for games like Welcome Park, Astro's Playroom, etc.)

I really like the storefront feature. But could you add:
Rockstar Games Launcher
Paradox Launcher
Arc
My.com GameCenter
Facebook

Thanks!!

Just a heads up, I'll be making no modifications to the site until after E3 (code wise).

What does crowd funded do with storefronts? Is it different from direct download?

Is this a bug or a feature (for ZD)?
Not sure if this is a new problem or an old problem... This happens in a new, almost virgin Firefox profile without the usual slag of 17 years of usage and the usual "Fuck off, I don't consent"-plugins (yet).
Also that consent popup just popped up again while writing this and I was unable to close it... I literally had to remove it out of the DOM to continue writing this post without loosing what I've already written.

Yeah, Everdred already said that Ziff Davis only shows it to people in the EU as a matter of policy. It's a GDPR thing and ZD doesn't want to lose the cookies by offering controls to people it isn't strictly forced to.

Interestingly, if I use a VPN located in Europe I don't get the popup 🤷‍♀️

Sadly yes... While I generally support the idea behind those laws... like not tracking users without their consent I absolutely hate how it's implemented in most of the web: Dark patterns that try to trick you into giving your consent even if you intend to not give your consent (confusing coloring of the buttons, almost invisible buttons, ...), some sites require you to click through a jungle of pages and finally give a list of hundreds of trackers they use, all activated and no "disable all" button... so you should basically disable all by hand... That consent dialog on HLTB is one of the nicer ones with its "opt-out of all"-button.
Many blame the "cookie law"/GDPR for these annoying cookie popups... but many websites and "cookie banner plugins" make it hard on purpose to opt-out or trick the users into consenting... Which is in violation of the law itself. Well, hopefully this will get better soon: Max Schrems/NOYB started recently to scan the most prominent websites for illegal cookie banners and send GDPR complaint drafts to those companies with a deadline of one month before they file that GDPR complaint in case the companies choose to not comply to the GDPR.

From a clean browser session without cookies etc.?
Also was the VPN server located in the EU or Europe? With the latter it depends on the country and if the GDPR or similar applies.

€dit: Also look at this: https://c.evidon.com/geo/country.js ... This will contain the detected country.

I think it was a clean browser and an EU country. I'll have to try again, not that it matters.

Probably because your browser already allowed the cookies by default and it doesn't need to ask for consent again.

I wonder if that's even legal. Like if I moved to the EU, are websites legally allowed to say "well we already forced this on you outside the GDPR's jurisdiction so we don't have to ask for it now?"

I feel like that's not how laws work? But I don't know how the GDPR itself works and how it's applied. Ignoring that sites are going to violate it anyway.

Would it be possible to select "Emulated" together with any of the other platforms? e.g. "Emulated" + "PlayStation 2".

I want to specify what platform I emulated exactly (many games vary per platform but only have a single entry on HLTB, thus making a distinction is important).

As it currently stands, emulated is a "fall back" for people who don't want to catalog by the original hardware. It's basically to stop people listing console games as "pc" or some other emulator host. Or for people who just have thousands of roms running inside a multi platform emulator and either don't know, or don't care (for example, console games in MAME after it merged with MESS).

I, and many others would argue that you should list the version of the game you played and not by emulator anyway - it makes basically no difference to completion times anyway. I won't speak for Everdred, but adding a separate field to emulation would seem redundant.

Ah, there we have it. Another one who, like me, would prefer the emulated state to be an individual parameter from the actual platform.

To answer your question: As of right now it's not possible to tag it as both. You gotta choose between the actual native platform or "emulated". Which one you use just comes down to personal preference.
But I'm with you that it should be separated and I've mentioned it before actually.
