Good to see that others are happy to use controllers on PC. :) It's just very nicely convenient and I like getting hands of the keys and mouse for a bit.

@gaiages
I write for one site mainly (GamePodunk.com) but also maintain two blogs (one about video games, one for movies) in my spare time. The blogs have been pretty dry lately as I've been focusing on other things these past couple months but the hope is to get them back into regular use soon, haha.

Oh, neat. I'll have to check out gamepodunk, as well as your blogs! Thanks! :3

And I'm also part of the 'PC controller' brigade. There's sometimes I even try to make the game compatible even if it isn't... doesn't always work out, but darn it if I don't try!

As it stands, my main job is writing daily, so you're doing pretty well to stay toe to toe Wolfgang!

Why thank you! I guess being an mildly anti-social gamer helps sometimes.
I just sleep 15 hours straight, so I guess that will put me in disadvantage... On the other hand, guess who won't be sleeping tonight! :P

Hey! VSauce just made a video about WhatPulse, what a coincidence! - Pretty darn interesting & fun to watch, like all their videos.

He mentions that office workers type between 5k and 10k keystrokes every day... goddamn it, I'm usually at 50k!!

That's it? D: On the days I do my homework, I know I type more than that, not to mention times when I actually AM on the computer for more than an hour! What are those office workers doing all day? ;P

Haha, I went to the beach yesterday myself which I guess took as much time as that sleeping binge of yours! I'm much too excited by a simple program that measures amount of keypresses :p.

If anything I kind of wish it could track amount of words too, but that might be impossible to do without extra monitoriing of what is input. Although I guess it could assume that every spacebar press meant that a new word was starting, but that wouldn't necessarily work (for example when playing games + keyboard controls). Oh well, it's still a very cool program and I love seeing the heatmaps :).

I don't know about the keeping track of the words. I don't like my passwords to be seen by anyone.

Here is my most recent Heat Map from WhatPulse! WAD is hot for obvious reasons (S is cold because I never walk backwards in Minecraft, etc.) - and "YUHJ" is hot because those are my keys for my SNES emulator (which is also the culprit for F2 and F4 being hot :P)!

Strange that they track right/left shift, alt and ctrl in reverse.

That was the first thing I noticed when running the heatmap! I only ever use the left sides for those buttons so it was immediately apparent to me as being off. I don't know why it's like that, but oh well lol.

I'm so bad at this site. I've been clicking around for a bit, and I can't find where to generate heatmaps or any of that cool stuff! How do you all do it? D:

It's actually on the program itself. Right click the Whatpulse icon on the bottom right and click "Key Frequencies", then look for the Generate Image button somewhere on the right, just click that and say yes to when it asks if you want to view it.

Ohhh, no wonder I couldn't find it! xD

Mine isn't anything too interesting... Space is the only hot key, like I expected, but for some reason E is pretty warm... kinda weird. >.>'' I love being able to look at it, though!

Mine isn't very interesting either. WASD is bright red and everything else is neglected pretty much because they're used so much more.

I'm guessing I'll get a lot more ZXS keypresses, along with F1 and F3, because I'm using a PSX emulator to play Mega Man X4! :D

Ah, have fun with that. I enjoyed X4 a lot; other than being the first in the entire Mega Man series that I managed to beat without someone 'coaching' me, it has some nice story developments for the X series... well, if you can stomach the voice acting. I don't even remember if it's actually bad, but my mind keeps telling is was horrid.

I just use my controller for emulators. Feels a lot more natural. I can play Super Mario World with my eyes closed on a controller, but if I try it on a keyboard, I'll likely die on the first level.

Just bumping this up, so maybe we can get more members in there!

I thought I was cool 'cause I hit 100,000+ strokes, but... well, everyone's far ahead of that! xD

It was interesting for a while, but a few days ago it told me my save file was corrupt and I needed to reset it. Resetting it wiped all the data but didn't fix the issue, so I just gave up and uninstalled it.

Does anyone know how to get this working on Linux? I'd like to have it on my laptop but it says that I need to configure the read properties or something, and honestly I don't know how you do that on this OS, lol. I've looked up a bit of stuff on it but it doesn't seem to be working. The program will run but won't count any key presses.
