Two completions for me in June.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II
27. A game that was adapted from another medium (book, movie, etc.) or a game that has been adapted into another medium
Halo 2
23. A game where you play as a robot or an alien
I very nearly finished Dragon Age: Origins in June also, but alas it will be a July completion by a couple days.

It turned out to have been a VERY long time since I last updated my Challenge list, so I'm gonna post additions from a few months ago as well.
06. A quick completion (less than an hour) - Another Pokemon Game (Completed: 2/27/2024, Rating: 3/10)
07. A game you got for free - Folder Dungeon (Completed: 7/1/2024)
12. A game recommended to you by someone else - Ridge Racer Type 4 (Completed: 6/11/2024, Rating: 8/10)
15. A game that heavily focuses on flight - Bulk Slash (Completed: 6/13/2024, Rating: 7/10)
18-2. A visual novel or text-based game - Galaxy Ballerina (Completed: 7/3/2024, Rating: 5/10)
25-2. A game whose protagonist you would want to be friends with - Google Doodle: Doctor Who 50th Anniversary (Completed: 2/29/2024, Rating: 5/10)
46-1. A studio's very first game - Pokemon Emerald Rogue (Completed: 2/24/2024, Rating: 7/10)
Not all of these have much for me to say on, Galaxy Ballerina takes like 8 minutes to finish and the art was Nice but I have not much to end and what is there to say about a Google Doodle, but I do want to give a big shoutout to Ridge Racer Type 4 for being stylish as all hell. That game really hooked into me for a good two days to the point I started replaying it for fun well after I had finished all the Grand Prix. Certainly not perfect but a great game with an ear worm soundtrack. I also wrote a review for it.
I also wanna give a nice shout to Bulk Slash. That game's a Saturn game from 1997 that never got localized (a Sega Saturn game? Not getting localized? Shocker!) but got a full english translation that not only translated the game but gave it full english voice acting since the voice acting is a bit important to the gameplay at times. It has a quality to it that perfectly fits the english dub of 90s OVAs that Bulk Slash is very much trying to be in a way that even an actual translation might not. If that or the game's intro interests you I definitely recommend checking it out!

Well, as I predicted, the months after February were quite busy indeed. I barely had time to play games what with a rather large move going on. Anyways, sometime around June is when I was finally able to get all my moving together, and as such, was able to get a few more games played. But I haven't done much over the past 4 months. I have some time to make up for, haha! So here's a list below of what I've managed to beat over the past 4 months.
Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3)
System Shock (PC)
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (PC)
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs (PS2)
Dead Space (PS3)
Tunic (Switch)

16 games and I'm still overlap free! Right now I'm playing through Suikoden, though I'm still in the early stages. I'm technically still ahead of my pace last year so maybe it'll be a record year for me!

June Update
You can find my master list at here.
A busy month meant Games were taking a back seat. The three I finished kind of slot into various categories.
Added:
09-1. A remake or remaster of a game - Metro: Last Light Redux
18-2. A visual novel or text-based game - State of Mind
22. A game without any humans - The Talos Principle
Metro: Last Light Redux can go into the Post-apocalyptic category, as well as a re-master or diverse cast. I choose the remake category as I have a couple of other post-apocalyptic games I can choose from. It was a good experience, although I liked Metro 2033 better.
The Talos principle was an interesting game after carefully examining its philosophical ideas. The puzzles felt like they overstayed their welcome a bit, but the setting was very well executed and I tended to forgive that.
Last was State of Mind. I was not sure exactly what this was. It fell between a point-and-click adventure and a visual novel with simple mini-games and puzzles. A lot has been mentioned about its visual presentation but overall I didn't enjoy it. The story was poor, and the voice acting was uneven. I pushed it into the Visual Novel category although one can argue if it's correct.
For next month, I have started Unravel and I am enjoying it. I'm also looking at Gris which everybody says is terrific. With limited time I am not sure how much I will be able to fit, but I might finally start some 20+ years old game to close that category up. I have a few options available in my backlog.

I have never played it before neither.
To be honest, I found it has nothing to envy to new games in the grind department.
Going back and forth from posts to upgrade my weapons and my main stats is such a chore, and it has the problem of beign a necessity to finish the game and feel incredible cheaty at the same time.
The first hour was fun, I decided to give it a go without much help, having read only the manual, like if I just have bought the game in 1980, and doing quests and losing was fine, but after a while I became completely lost and frustrated without any help from a walkthrough.

Six challenges finished in July. Not only that, I have only three left plus the bonus challenge. I might actually finish this year!
Here's my collection: https://www.howlongtobeat.com/user/R2D21999/lists/29881/R2D21999-2024-Challenge
11. A collection of games - Bioshock: The Collection - It's Bioshock... the Collection... it's in the name.
14-2. A game whose title contains the name of a color - Red Earth - It's... RED Earth... it's in the name.
31. A cornerstone to gaming culture - The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Game Boy version) - It's Zel... da... it's in the nam- ok sorry that joke's old. But seriously I think Link's Awakening is as much a cornerstone as something like A Link to the Past.
33-2. A spin-off game - Metroid Prime Hunters - Metroid Prime is arguably a spin-off series... so Metroid Prime Hunters is a spin-off of that.
36. A game that heavily features either fire or ice - Atomic Punk 2 - This is literally a bomberman game under a different name. Imo the fire upgrade is an extremely important upgrade in the Bomberman games since it expands the explosion range. Also you light the fuses with fire, so it *is* kind of important.
45. A game that is on someone else’s HLTB 2024 Gaming Challenge List - Folder Dungeon - Thank you FrozenRoy for having it as your game you got for free.

3 completions in July for moi:
Dragon Age: Origins
35. A game containing a real or fictional religion
Halo 3
31. A cornerstone to gaming culture
Unravel Two
39. A game that surprised you
I thought that Unravel Two was going to be my "Bright and Cheerful Game", but it got pretty dark in places. I think I can honestly say it surprised me with how visually appealing and pleasant it was for a puzzle platformer though.
I am also on the cusp of completing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, so for the second month in a row I will not have as many completions as it feels like I had in reality.
My Collection
Progress toward challenge is 10/50 lol. I'll be happy if I hit 25/50 to be honest. I've been playing some longer games and plan to continue doing so.

For July I got 3 more, including one of my favourite games of all time, Rome: Total War
Played as Germania on hard hard, and make the mistake of wait for the Roman factions to grow too strong, and the last part of the game was a grind.
The other two are nothing to write about, one a standard XBOX 360 indie shooter, the other a standard grindaton that I continue playing long after it stopped being fun.
Also, somehow Fract OST got erased, and I completed it on April, so I will add it again.
In-Progress 2024 Challenge List:
01. A new game (released within the past year) - Gigantic Rampage Edition
02. An old game (released 10+ years ago) - Fract OSC
04. An ancient game (released 30+ years ago) - Ultima 1: The First Age of Darkness
05. A time sink (50+ hours) - Temtem
09-2. A game that received new translations to other languages some time after its initial release - Kero Blaster
10. A game with 6+ endings - Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
19. A game where you play as an antihero or a villain - Dragon Ball: The Breakers
20-1. A game set in a historical time period - Rome: Total War
21. A game with a female protagonist - Hydrophobia: Prophecy
22. A game without any humans - Bulb Boy
25-1. A game set in a world you would like living in - NightSky

July was a pretty successful month for me. I was able to buy a new console and finish my small backlog, allowing me to get some new games! It's been nice to settle down and play some games again after such a hectic few months. Here's what I beat this month, well, including titles up to today.
Suikoden (PS1)
Chants of Sennaar (PC)
Super Mario Bros. (NES)
Cool Boarders 3 (PS1)
Borderlands (PS3)
Duck Hunt (NES)
🆕 - Newly Completed
✅ - Completed
⏯️ - Now Playing
❌ - Not Completed
22 down! I feel like most of these are self-explanatory haha. But I'm starting to struggle a bit to find places to put some games...I have a few in the backlog and I won't deny I'm already starting to plan where they might go. I think Star Wars Battlefront for the PS2 will be next! Until September, everyone.

July update!
Slow month, could've played more, but got addicted to Fifa Pro Clubs... Completed 5 games and spent (35h) in them.
11. A collection of games – SEGA and Mega Drive Collection - Had Golden Axe + Sonics and others, actually quite a good collection.
13. A game whose title could describe your life – Duck Game - My whole internet personality is based on being a dead duck, and the game is really fun.
16. A game from a genre you don't usually play – Who Pressed Mute On Uncle Marcus? - Pretty fun, but needed to be more of an investigation game.
19. A game where you play as an antihero or a villain – Suicide Squad: KJL - Incredible from start to finish, I loved the narrative and characters!
34. A bright and cheerful game – Garfield Lasagna Party - Not a good game, but it's garfield!
Here is my current progress, and the games I'm playing/planning to play.

I'm currently playing Elden Ring... first FromSoft game I'm actually trying to finish, but as I'm slumped with college and work, I don't have any motivation to play a game so hude and vast, might end up only finishing it by the end of the year.

July Update
You can find my master list at here.
After a strong half playing games in 2024, the second half looks less promising as I have so many things to do! This month 3 games again:
Added:
03. A really old game (released 20+ years ago) - Legacy of Kain: Defiance
39. A game that surprised you - Unravel
48. A game that has been a HLTB Game of the Month - GRIS
Legacy of Kain was out in November 2003 in North America, and February 2004 in the rest of the world, making it just over 20 years old. The game was one of the oldest games in my backlog, so this was an excuse to play and I did have high hopes as it has an interesting lore and was developed by Crystal Dynamics. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst games I played in the last few years. The story and sound were great, but the fixed camera angle and funky controls made this game a bad experience. If it wasn't for the HLTB 2024 challenge, I would have retired it.
Unravel on the other it was a real joy. I had only seen it in promos and bought it for its graphics - but playing it for real was a surprise. It was such a gorgeous experience that left me with a grin from cheek to cheek. It's a shame this puzzle-platformer gameplay is the same from start to finish, but the way that they used the environments to create the puzzles was a real treat.
I thought that Unravel would be the best game I played this month until I started GRIS. It was the HLTB game of the month in September 2020, and It's the best game I played so far this year. It's a puzzle platformer with Metroidvania elements, but it is also simply a work of art. The sound, graphics, art direction and left me awe-struck and emotional. Simply a WOW.

August update
14-2. A game whose title contains the name of a color: Severed Steel
I'm realizing as I write this that FE: Radiant Dawn would've also worked, but this is funnier.
24. An arcade-style high score game: Centipede: Recharged
26. A game where you play as a bug or an aquatic creature: Black Widow: Recharged
I didn't remember this challenge when I decided to beat this game, things just lined up really well
42. A game that had a red retirement rating on HLTB when you started playing it (10% or higher): Barbie's Dreamhouse Party (13.3%)

✅Harmony's Odyssey 34. A bright and cheerful game
Hi everybody! I was pretty busy in July, so I didn't have any new games to add. I picked up the slack this month! I also played a lot of Islands of Insight. It's pretty interesting watching a game's online servers decay in real time. I have like 80 hours in the game and it was really fun, if the servers get fixed I'd love to play more. Also, if you're wondering how I got 50+ hours in Kyle Is Famous, there are a lot of awesome custom stories in the Steam Workshop. My partner wrote a bunch of amazing text adventure mods for Kyle Is Famous and they're really really well written. I love his creativity and writing. I actually wrote my own mod after playing through his, please check it out if you'd like!
