I've recently been playing through Before the Green Moon, and I'm absolutely loving it - but when I went to read some of the reviews on here, I found that there was only a single one (soon to be 2 as soon as I finish it haha).
So, based on that experience, what's your favorite obscure game, to the point of only having a couple of HLTB reviews?

Great thread idea!
I'd say Receiver II from my list.
Very satisfying once you get good at it.

There's lots of games with less than 10 reviews on here, some of them are even kind of popular but sort of wanned in popularity in recent times. There's lots of PS1, 2 and 3 games that seem to have passionate cult followings but don't get much coverage on the site. But if I were to name random ones it would be Urban Reign, Metal Arms Glitch in the System and Freedom Planet 2. I can name more but I'd be here all day. I started to review games at all because simpily put there are a number of games that don't get covered all that much like "retro" games to indie games without any mainstream journalists covering them. I also review AAA games too since I play almost anything. When it comes to PS2 games, with every God of War and a Devil May Cry there is an Onimusha or a Rygar Legendary Adventure.
Whole thing is kind of weird but at the same time, I kind of get it.

The highest rated game I have with these qualifications is Giga Wing 2 on Dreamcast. I emulated the game of course since this is another obscure Dreamcast game that costs hundreds but I seriously love this one. It's probably the best Bullet Hell and Shmup game I've played and everything about it just is really awesome. I don't usually play Bullet Hells but this was one I have to absolutely recommend. It's too bad there's only three games in this series and the last one was only in JP and PAL regions (I did play it emulated though, although it's kind of a disappointment compared to the first two on Dreamcast) Not for everyone obviously, but there's loads I love here.

I just looked through my top 10 games by year collections and have several with less than 10 reviews. Out of all of those, I would say Theia: The Crimson Eclipse was my favorite. It is a massive RPG Maker game that is completely free because it uses some copyrighted assets. It's easily the most polished RPG Maker game I've played and most importantly, it's fun. Anyone into that genre should absolutely check it out.

Tyrion Cuthbert: Attorney to the Arcane. Just finished it and saw that I have the only review on here… Don’t let the cover art put you off, Ace Attorney fans would love this.

Not sure if we're counting only the amount of written reviews or if including non-written ones as well, but I'll pick Boss Slayer. It's a flash game, even in the realm of flash games it's generally unknown. It's a great and short shmup that I loved playing.

A turn-based, story driven RPG, with slight tinges of Gothic themes mixed in.
Basic premise: You arrive at a manor to kill the person responsible for hosting a party. My lips are sealed on the rest.

Essays on Empathy, by FAR. At its core, it's a collection of game jam games. But more than that, it's a documentary-style journey following a game development studio over a long period of time. How their style evolves; how they handle the artistic process; how their relationship with game development and each other strengthens. The development team consists of three people in a polyamorous relationship, and as a gamedev & composer in a throuple myself, this experience ticked more than a few boxes for me through sheer relatability.
Though it may not be as "complete" of an experience as The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood (here) or The Red Strings Club (here), it's still a very special title to me, and I recommend it to anyone interested in experiencing something deeply personal. The games are cool, but it's not about the games.

Mine would be the unknown Adventures of Chris, I think there was a beta test phase a bit before the release date, and that is where I found out about it, played the beta and had fun.
Bought the game and had fun again! The gameplay is a bit clunky, but the handdrawn style and the whole lighthearted mood bought me out and made me enjoy my experience, while still being a hard game!

I can only think of one game obscure enough to qualify off the top of my head, which would be Page Chronica. I'm the only one who's rated it, therefore I am the sole arbiter of its quality.
Edit: Okay, someone needs to explain these graphs to me, because the numbers don't add up.

All 8 UBERMOSH games for me. Absolutely amazing bullet-hell games where you need to survive for "just" 90 secs.
Most of the later games have under 10 reactions, and none have more than a couple of written reviews, if any at all
Uvehj told me to buy the collection when I shared a link of the first game's steam page on the discord server (which is a damn good deal btw, all the games for the price of one, and it's half off pretty often so it was like 26 rupees (0.49USD adjusted with steam's regional pricing))
What followed was a couple of days of "Okay, enough UBERMOSH for one day" followed by a good few more hours of UBERMOSH.

Which numbers aren't adding up? There's a slight rounding issue where the game should be rated 67% instead of 66%. Without access to more data, I'm guessing the reviews by platform has way more PC reviews than mobile reviews which is why the 75% from mobile isn't affecting the overall score.

I'm pretty sure the "By Platform" is the average score per platform, not the number of reviews, so 67% and 75%

That's correct. On average, the average review score for PC players for this game is 67% and the average review score for mobile players is 75%. I can see where the confusion is though. The numbers on top of the bars for the left chart is the number of reviews per score whereas the numbers on top of the bars for the right chart are percentages. That could probably be redesigned somehow to be made more clear.

Hidden & Dangerous 2 fits the description. As someone who is not much into realistic shooters, this game was an exception.
Considering the time when this game was released, this was truly revolutionary. You are playing as an elite SAS squad of four that have loads of different weapons and commands you can give to any of your squad members. Game also has plenty of unique maps with different climates and vehicles, giving players freedom to complete the mission however they want. Additionally, you have 20+ (iirc) potential squad members that you choose before each mission and stats of each one of them are important to making your playthrough easier. Fun fact, this game was released by a same studio that published the original Mafia, and they share the same game engine.
If you're into tactical shooters and can get past the awful control scheme that can be modified with a lot of work I recommend checking out H&D2.

HATCH is a game I gave a 10, but I'm the only reviewer. I think I'm probably an outlier with my feelings towards the game, given its pretty short and simple, but I thought the idea it has was cool and executed in such a cool way. I'm glad the developer has worked on even more climbing focused games and is even going to release a bigger project soon (Lorn's Lure).
Not necessarily my favorite, but An Untitled Story is pretty great and has a single review. It's made by the creator of Celeste and can be directly downloaded from the dev's website.
Another I like is times infinity. In this case I'm the only reviewer among 3 completions. Good if you like weird games.
---
This makes me want a sort by popularity and sort by number of reviews in the games list page (its nice you can do it on your whole list using the "isolate my Games" option on the main search though.

NUTS - it's a wonderful puzzle walking adventure that anyone who loved Firewatch would enjoy. It's only about four hours long and was the result of a games jam that got rave reviews in raw form. This prompted the creators to make a full game and the visuals are stunning. I highly recommend it.
It has only six reviews currently. One is mine and another is the Auto populated IGN one. Released in 2021 they scored it 70%. I really liked it.

...I have just seen a game I played with no reviews though and I quite liked it.
