I notice that the games I play and the anime I watch often overlap, especially those I really like. For one thing I have noticed generally the anime and games I like are usually accompanied by a killer soundtrack, and then in the case of the anime written by Gen Urobuchi and the games written by Chris Avalon there's overlapping philosophical ideas and concepts.

Yes my love of anime influences my love of drifting games!

The most that happens is when I listen to eurobeat while playing a racing game. Got some good memories of listening to eurobeat while playing Burnout 3 and Revenge on emulator, I eventually got bored of them both but it's fun to do for a couple of hours.
I could think of some more examples, but they kind of sound too abstract to write down.

For sure. I think a big reason I gravitated towards JRPGs in the first place is because I enjoy the colorful worlds and character-focused narratives that anime provides. My favorite anime of all time is Hunter x Hunter, so I feel like that all checks out.

Oh, absolutely.
Most of the games I play/want to play are either anime games (Games of already existing anime) or anime-looking games.
As for the genres, they also tend to overlap.

Also it's funny how I was introduced to anime through my love of racing games. Which is why inital d is still a very huge component of my life.

I would say yes. I prefer single player narrative driven games and most of the animes I watch are set in similar fantasy worlds and the games I play.

Yup! Actually, I started playing Visual Novels because of the Steins;Gate anime. One thing led to another and my love for otome games led me to watch more romance anime as well, so it kinda came full circle

Mine's the exact opposite; I started watching anime like Steins;Gate because I played the visual novel first.

Nice! How was the adaptation from your point of view? :D

I would like to agree but unfortunately some of my favorite anime happen to be released in the late 80s and 90s and video game adaptations have never been localized- otherwise I would be playing & completing them. Although I'm grateful for fan-translations that have been released in recent years.

I still consider the 80s and 90s the golden age of anime.

Sorry for the late reply. I think the anime adaptation was good. But there are some major details that got overlooked, and I feel like the VN execution is definitely a way to experience it since it has been crafted perfectly (and I did tear up more in the VN).

Because the artwork was more hand drawn and less cgi like how it is nowadays.

Good hand drawn artwork isn't going to save a story from being trash. George Lucas made a good point that special effects without a story is a pretty boring thing. Good story can save weak animation, good animation can't save a weak story.

One theme that is common to almost any media i consume is that no matter how bad things get, you can still find hope, especially in those you care about.
In gaming there was Dark souls and Final fantasy XIV while in manga there was Berserk and One piece, in anime Gurren lagann ecc.
I also love bombastic and over the top action scenes which are also present in the souls saga and in a lot studio trigger's stuff.

Yep, there's some overlap! Started gaming after participating in an anime con and got immediately hooked on otome games and their adaptations, but anime-wise, I'm more a fan of thrillers and psychological stuff, so it can get tricky when it collides with romance games. Keeps my entertainment balance in check though!
